Only answer 3 is correct. The Second Continental Congress declared the colonies independent on July 2 by approving a "resolution of independence" that had been proposed in June. The Declaration of Independence, written by a committee of five, was debated and revised for two days and was adopted by vote on July 4.
The document was not actually signed by everyone at that point. Most delegates signed it on August 2.
In his letter to his wife, John Adams predicted that July 2 would be the day of the "great anniversary" forever more.
The Constitution was adopted on September 17, 1787.
